Nice turn around happening today. I’d say I’m at an 8/10 today, but because I’ve had only 9s and 10s for the last couple weeks, and especially the last few days, by comparison, the pain feels so much better. I’m feeling the differential. It’s pretty dramatic. This won’t last though. My brain will get used to the new pain level pretty quickly. The last few days have been super insane. More than my normal level of insanity. When I first started feeling the pain drop this afternoon, I felt a bit high even. A drop in the pain differential feels quite nice. For a little bit. Messed up what happens to chronic pain patients’ brains.

I think I’ve adjusted to the reduction in pain. I’ve felt that ‘high’ feeling before from pain reductions. It’s not common, but it happens. Too bad it never lasts long! I either get used to it quickly, or the pain ramps back up and it goes away. The only thing my brain knows is intense pain, so sometimes when I feel something less than intense pain, my brain interprets it as pleasurable, even though there is still a high level of pain. It’s usually how I know I’m experiencing real pain relief, or a big reduction. It’s pretty messed up actually.
